Dr Francis Ogbonnaya

Dr Francis Ogbonnaya has been appointed Head of ICARDA’s Biotechnology Section. Dr Ogbonnaya joined ICARDA in September 2007 as senior scientist, wheat breeding and biotechnology. Previously, he was a molecular geneticist and plant breeder at the Department of Primary Industries in Victoria, Australia. Dr Ogbonnaya has a PhD from the University of Melbourne, an outstanding research record (more than 90 scientific publications), and has led a number of multi-institution biotechnology projects. His work has covered molecular genetics applications for stress tolerance, genetic analysis of qualitative and quantitative traits, marker technology, germplasm characterization and other areas.
